We can already see clear progress in the revitalization of the Park Hutniczy (Metallurgical Park) – the oldest park in Zabrze, located at Mikulczycka Street. The task entitled „Creating open and accessible urban spaces in the Park Hutniczy (Metallurgical Park) in Zabrze” is being implemented there as part of the „City as Space for Development” project financed from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for the years 2014-2021.

The contract for the implementation of this task was signed in the Historical Room of Zabrze City Hall on the 24th of May this year. The total value of the investment is 8 870 477.38 PLN. The contractor for the construction works is Construction and Renovation Plant „PLAST-BUD” Mariusz Dawidowski. The task is to be completed within six months of signing the contract.

Currently in the Park Hutniczy (Metallurgical Park) the ground is being replaced in the area of the skatepark and water playground that are under construction, works related to the surface of the skatepark are also underway, a social-and-technical building is being built at the water playground, two young trees have been planted in the new skatepark and the existing hardened surfaces are being dismantled in the entire revitalized area.

“Park Hutniczy is another place that we will restore to its former splendour” – comments the Mayor of Zabrze, Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik. – Thanks to conversations with residents, I know how important and desirable investments in recreational infrastructure and green areas are. Therefore, as part of the modernization project of the park, which is being prepared, we will make: a playground and a water playground, a volleyball court, a multifunctional sports field, an outdoor gym, barbecue areas and a skatepark. In addition, with our four-legged friends in mind, we are going to prepare a dog run. The „Neptune’s spring” in the northern part of the park will also be restored. The task will be carried out with the use of Norwegian funds obtained by us.
