The first water playground in Zabrze will open soon!
We announce good news for the youngest inhabitants of our city. The first water playground in Zabrze will open still this month. The recreational facilities are being assembled. The object situated in Janek housing estate passed the first technical test on the system about the end of April.
– This is an investment project worth PLN 2,5 million for which we obtained 90 % funding from external sources. We consistently procure additional funds and prepare our own contribution based, without limitation, on bonds. Thus the children and youth will be able to spend a good time at the water playground this spring – commented Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, the President of Zabrze.
The water playground has been designed as a complex of 21 attractions for children. The planned completion term is in the end of May, this year.
It will be the first water playground in Zabrze, but not the last one. Another such facility is to be built in the revitalized Metallurgical Park, located in the center of our city. The cost of building a playground with access for the disabled is nearly PLN 1.5 million.
Let us remind you that the Metallurgical Park – the oldest in the city, was established at the Donnersmarck steelworks in 1885 – will be revitalized. The investment will be financed primarily from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism – in the amount of over PLN 15 million, as well as from the state budget. What will change? Small architecture will appear in the park (pergolas, benches, seats, deckchairs, litter bins, segregation bins, bird and insect boxes, information boards, bicycle racks and even barbecue areas), a skate park and the already mentioned water square playgrounds, as well as an open-air gym and a dog run.
A sanitary and social building will be built in the park – along with the necessary infrastructure. The existing asphalt and concrete surfaces will be removed and new paths and squares will be built in their place. The investment will also include lighting, water supply, sanitary, energy and technological installations for the water playground.
