The graduation tower in Kończyce is open!

We have good news for the inhabitants of our city. The graduation tower in Kończyce has been put into operation! The investment, which was built with the support of the Norwegian Funds, was made available last Sunday.

– This is another important investment that meets the needs of our residents. I am glad that thanks to our joint work, we managed to raise funds for the construction of such places that not only allow you to spend time in a nice way, but also have a positive impact on the health of users – said Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, Mayor of the City of Zabrze, during the opening of the facility. – The graduation tower was built in the area of the District Cultural Center in Kończyce at Dorotki Street 3. It will be available during the week during the opening hours of the center and on weekends – informed the mayor.

Making the facility available was the key point of the picnic program, which was organized last Saturday in Kończyce. As part of the event, the youngest could take advantage of artistic and circus animations, and slightly older ones could see the exhibition of works submitted to the competition on the occasion of the 30th Earth Week and listen to the performances of the bands Nivel and De Silvers.

The graduation tower in Kończyce is equipped with:

  • bike racks,
  • underground brine tank with brine mixing device,
  • brine installation for brine distribution: brine dosing automation and control room and a pump with a float switch,
  • underground technical well (technical chamber) with access,
  • blackthorn column (blackthorn core),
  • elements of small architecture: benches and dustbins,
  • lighting with RGB-W LED light sources (dynamic color change based on color therapy is assumed),
  • a pole with a photovoltaic panel and a battery (basic power supply for the graduation tower) and an auxiliary power supply system (connection to the existing internal installation) – the whole in the form of a hybrid electrical installation,
  • proximity sensor integrated with the brine installation – activating the installation when people stay in the graduation tower area and immobilizing it in the absence of users and at night,
  • twilight sensor and time switch integrated with the lighting system – activating the lighting system after dusk and switching it off outside the hours of use,
  • a board with the regulations for using the graduation tower (a typical system board with a character and color scheme referring to the graduation tower shelter).

The building contractor was AQUARIUS ŚRODA & HOLISZ Sp. z o. o.

The investment task was co-financed in 85 percent. from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 – the project „City as Space for Development” and 15% from the state budget.

The graduation tower is a place to meet, relax, but also to take care of your health by inhaling the healing brine. The structure made of wood with blackthorn branches, on which brine flows, is also a response to the needs of a society that takes its health more and more seriously. The brine breaking into small drops creates a breeze that cools and increases humidity and reduces dust in the air around the graduation tower. Inhaling it for one hour provides the same dose of iodine as a few days at the seaside. The brine breeze moisturizes and stimulates the production of mucus in the upper respiratory tract which allows them to get rid of contaminants faster. The iodine contained in the breeze promotes, among others, proper functioning of the thyroid gland. Inhalations used by healthy people increase the body’s immunity.

And this Saturday (June 24), another investment of this type will be made available in our city: the graduation tower in Maciejów (near Orlik pitch).
We invite you at 6 p.m.
