The summary of the 9th World Urban Forum took place in Zabrze
„We change our cities for a better future” is a slogan that accompanied this year’s edition of World Urban Forum (WUF) – the largest and the most important even in the world devoted to urban development, which took place in Poland this time.
The event became a space for dialog to all concerned with the welfare and future of their local homelands. The summary of the 9th WUF took place in our city yesterday. The historical room of Zabrze City Hall hosted the representatives of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy led by the Director of European Matters and International Cooperation, Monika Kusina-Pycińska, the youth engaged in the organization of the event, Silesian University of Technology and the local government of Zabrze – including the Deputy Presidents Krzysztof Lewandowski and Katarzyna Dzióba and Małgorzata Giela, the City Secretary.

– I am happy that we may summarize this year’s ediction of WUF exactly in Zabrze, which has been very well appreciated and has surely been international success – Monika Kusińska-Pycińska commented. – The participants could become familiar with your city and see how well it managed the transformation and the consequent changes. This is what we wanted to show off on the example of Zabrze. In addition we were exceptionally amazed with the fact that practically all the projects that you perform consider accessibility so important nowadays.
During the meeting at Zabrze City Hall the visitors were made familiar, without limitation, with the projects performed as part of the Norwegian Financing Mechanism (“City as Space for Development”), the “Welcome to Zabrze” project being the fruit of the “Urban In” competition or the “Door to door” project aimed at levelling the barriers related to mobility in our city.
